2. How to store our seeds?

Keep your seeds refrigerated as much as possible! If not, store in a cool and dry area. Try to keep your seeds in an airtight space, so place them in a sealed plastic bag. The chances of your seeds germinating decreases as time passes, but you can help your seeds remain viable by storing them well.

3. How to harvest your plants?

When your crops are ready to harvest, you can cut them for use in your cooking or other purposes. Some crops should be harvested from the top of the plant, whereas some crops should be harvested from the base of the plant.

How do you determine if your plants should be cut from the top or from the base? If you see stems and pairs of leaves on your plant, you can cut off the topmost pairs of leaves and just be careful to leave enough leaves for the plant to survive each time.

If you see rosettes with new leaves that grow from the middle of the plant, you can cut off the outermost leaves close to the base. For plants that bear fruit such as tomatoes, you can simply cut the fruits off when they have ripened for consumption.

4. Plant health care Tips and Tricks

Our Grow Series hydroponics kits are fully automated and are able to regulate and optimise light and nutrient solution supply. All you have to do is to plant your germinated seeds into the system and your plants will grow on their own! There are only a few things that you need to do to ensure that your hydroponics system is working properly.

Be sure to add water and the appropriate amount of nutrients A and B as required (5ml to every 1L of water added) – your system will let you know when to do so. Look out for flashing lights!

For plants that are suitable to be cut, trim them when they get too tall, so that they do not touch the lights and get damaged by the heat.

Clean the water reservoir well after each growth cycle by removing any broken roots or leaves, so that your future plants grow healthily.

5. How to use compost?

Our SmartCycler and SmartCycler Plus machines will produce compost at a regular rate for you!

To use the compost, simple dig a hole in your favorite plant pot and bury a small amount of compost. Nature will soon take over and your plant will begin to reap the benefits.

Alternatively, when starting a new plant, you can also mix the soil and compost in a 4:1 ratio for a more nutritious potting soil.
